Choose a Power BI navigation menu that fits your audience
Power BI offers useful navigation at different levels. Report buttons, page tabs, bookmarks, and drill-through help people move within an individual report. A Power BI app can package content for an audience. When employees need one place to discover reports and apps spread across teams or workspaces, a separate portal menu can provide that starting point.
LumioBI can organize report and app links into a group-aware menu. Administrators can shape which menu entries a group sees; Microsoft sign-in and the underlying Power BI permissions still determine whether each destination opens. The menu is a discovery and navigation layer, not a replacement for Microsoft authorization.
It is a set of links or controls that helps people find reports and move between them. Power BI has navigation inside reports and apps; a portal can provide a broader starting menu across destinations.
Can a Power BI menu combine reports from different workspaces?
A curated portal such as LumioBI can organize links to reports and apps from multiple workspaces in one menu. Each destination still uses its Microsoft Power BI sign-in and permissions.
Does LumioBI menu access replace Power BI permissions?
No. LumioBI groups can determine which menu links a person sees, while Microsoft authentication and Power BI permissions determine whether that person can open the underlying report.
When should I use native Power BI navigation?
Use report buttons for movement within one report and a Power BI app when its content and audience fit the app’s workspace-based packaging. Consider a portal menu when people need one curated entry point across multiple destinations.
