A STEP-BY-STEP VISUAL GUIDE

HOW LUMIOBI WORKS

Give your Power BI reports a better front door.

OrganizeConnectExplore

The portal is where you manage navigation.
The extension brings it into Power BI.

  1. 1

    Administrator

    CREATE YOUR PORTAL

Set up your organization’s LumioBI portal. Add your logo and brand colors to give your team a familiar starting point.

✓ Your brand. One front door for analytics.

  2. 2

    Administrator

    ORGANIZE YOUR REPORTS

Add links to the Power BI reports and resources you already use. Arrange them in clear folders, even when reports live in different workspaces.

✓ One menu across your existing workspaces.

  3. 3

    Administrator

    SET ACCESS & PUBLISH

Approve your portal users and tailor navigation visibility by group. Publish the portal configuration so your team can use the menu you’ve prepared.

✓ The right navigation for each audience.

  4. 4

    Report viewer

    INSTALL THE EXTENSION

Install LumioBI from the Chrome Web Store, then open or refresh app.powerbi.com. Use the work account your administrator approved for the portal. For managed browsers, coordinate installation with IT.

✓ Your portal menu, alongside Power BI.

  5. 5

    Report viewer

    FIND, OPEN & FAVORITE

Browse folders or search your portal to find a report. Open it in Power BI and star the links you use often. Your navigation stays with you as you move between reports.

✓ Less hunting. More time with your reports.

POWER BI STAYS IN CONTROL

LumioBI organizes navigation. Microsoft still hosts your reports and enforces report permissions and licensing. Showing a link in the menu does not grant access to its report.

Before you start

Administrators prepare and publish the portal first. Viewers need approved portal access, the extension, and the Microsoft permissions and licensing required for the reports they open.

Already have a portal?

Ask your administrator which portal and work email to use, then get LumioBI from the Chrome Web Store. Follow the extension installation guide for the full viewer setup.

Does LumioBI move or embed my reports?

No. Your reports stay in your existing Microsoft environment. LumioBI adds an organized navigation layer around the Power BI experience.

What about Power BI’s 20-item limit?

LumioBI can close inactive background items before opening the next report and skips tabs with unsaved changes. See the 20-item limit visual guide for how that works.

Illustrations show the workflow; actual portal appearance depends on your configuration.
